Company Names – Words covered by other legislations

 

Use of certain words in your company or business names is not allowed unless you have obtained formal approval from the relevant regulators. It may be a criminal offence if your company uses the sensitive words without official permission from relevant authority.

The Companies Act 2006 spelled out words that its use in your company or business names requires formal approval because they are covered by other legislations. The sensitive words are tabulated below. Please note that the words listed below are not exhaustive. It is your responsibility to check your chosen company names does not breach any law.
