The UK company law requires all Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) to file their accounts with Companies House on time. The filing is required regardless whether your LLP has started trading.

Companies House will issue late filing penalty to your LLP if the accounts are filed late. You will have to pay the minimum penalty even if your LLP accounts are only one day late. The penalty is sent to your LLP registered office address and the penalty amount involved is dependent on number of days delayed in delivery of your accounts.

If you deliver LLP accounts late LLP Late filing penalty
Less than 1 month £150
Less than 3 months £375
Less than 6 months £750
More than 6 months £1500

Having an accountant soon after forming your LLP is highly recommended as your accountant will be able advised you on the legal filing requirements for your LLP including how to avoid the late filing penalty and how you can organize and maintain your accounting papers for your LLP from the beginning.

Testimonials

I recently discovered that I have been recording my accounts the wrong way. I would suggest anyone starting new business to get accountant advice on doing your books as early as possible to avoid having to spend hours re-do the accounts and books.

A big thank you to Michelle, the accountant at Concise Accountancy, she helped to create a bookkeeping system using excel spreadsheet and also sorted out my records.
