Use one of these words in your company names will depend on how it is used. If you wish to use the word at the beginning of your company name, you would need to show that your company is pre-eminent in its field by providing supporting evidence from an independent source such as a Government department, trade association or other representative body.
If the word is used elsewhere in the name and qualified by words that do not describe an activity or product, for example by using a made-up word, then evidence of preeminence is not necessarily essential. However, you would be expected to show that your company is substantial in relation to its activity or product and that it is eminent in its own field.
The aim is to ensure that the use of this word in your company names is justified and it does not mislead the public.
